EMRA Basics helps with perfecting your differential by body part and age. Short & sweet.
Covers most common diagnoses for pain in each body part to help you ask the right questions and have the right differentials.
EMRA EM fundamentals is a thicker and smaller quick reference guide to read through when there is time and gives you a place to start.
Best Website Resources
A vast compendium of knowledge especially with practice ekgs, CXR, and ER cases. Would also recommend the newsletter.
Does that fracture need surgery or not? Can they be sent home? Answers to that and more in real time at your fingertips. My #1 Ortho reference.
Beautiful infographics for easy to digest information AND a great podcast. This one is a winner, even if you aren’t in ER.
Free, easily digestible 5 minute videos on every ultrasound scan in existence! Need I say more?
Best Medical Podcasts
Overall discussion about the politics, controversies and discussion of medicine on a whole. Not all of his fiery opinions are to be agreed with but can be fun to really get your forge lit and start looking into these topics!
EM Basic Podcast is the podcast I used when I was on clinical rotation. The episodes are basic approach to complaints from square one. But beware the monotone voice!
I know it says IM not EM! That’s because sometimes its worth it to deep dive into subjects and understand the IM perspective. I use this to be able to talk to my admission docs better. (there is an core EM)
Quick digestable tid-bits under 10 minutes to learn something about medicine. This is put out by Denver EM Residency.

Pharmacology Recall: The style is question & answer makes it easier to get thru and easy to reference if you need a quick pharm reference.

This is my personal on shift reference book for those “just in case” moments. Lots of content for such a small book.
Clinical EM
Awesome reference book! Wouldn’t just read through but solid explainations that apply clinically and are organized in a logical way. Award winning.
“the Little blue ICU book”
A practical approach to critical patients. I always reference this book when prepping my episodes. Good for any specialty to deep dive into critical subjects.
Best Beyond Medicine Reccs
Broke Millennial series is the best beginners guides I’ve ever found. Very updated and easy to read- got one for all my siblings. Highly recommended and best place to start!
Covers term definitions, explaining personal finance and why investing is so important in easy way, and dissects different types of retirement, emergency fund numbers. Also goes into robo-investing vs human advisers and so much more!
Curiosity Daily is an awesome daily podcast that teaches you something in just 10 minutes, because we can’t study medicine all day! Its upbeat and fun and I recommend it.
